What Determines the Size of a Maine Coon?
- Genetics: size mostly comes from the parents and their family lines.
- Diet & nutrition: a high-quality diet supports healthy muscle and bone growth.
- Gender: males are usually bigger than females, but some females grow large too.
- Spaying & neutering: can slightly change how fast they grow, but not their final size very much.
- Exercise: active kittens build stronger muscles.

Don't Get Caught in the Size Hype!
Some breeders advertise "giant" Maine Coons, but size alone does not decide quality. Very large cats can be more likely to have joint, hip or heart problems.
A responsible breeder focuses on strong genetics, a great temperament, breed standards and long-term health rather than extreme size. We breed for healthy, average-weight adults.

Biggest Maine Coon on Record
Maine Coons have held world records for the longest domestic cat. Their long bodies, big paws and bushy tails make them look even bigger than they are.
How Photos Make Maine Coons Look Even Bigger
Many viral photos of "giant" Maine Coons use a simple trick: holding the cat closer to the camera makes it look much bigger.

Having a big Maine Coon is really fun. They are cuddly, they keep you warm at night, and they are an amazing part of the family. But there is much more to them than their size: we focus on health, temperament and the breed standard.
Are Male Maine Coons Bigger than Females?
Usually, yes. Males are noticeably larger, but a female from big family lines can grow just as large. Keep this in mind when choosing a male or female kitten.
